After dropping some teasers of its design, BMW has finally unveiled the BMW M2 CS, a rear-wheel-drive performance-focused variant of the M2 Coupe. Expected to be the last ICE model of the M2 series, the M2 CS caters to performance enthusiasts as it amps up the power and is lighter than ever.

Engine Specifications

The 2026 BMW M2 CS is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine, which has been retuned for more performance. The re-tuned engine produces 523 bhp and 649 Nm of torque, making it 50 bhp and 100 Nm more powerful than the current M2, respectively.

The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a mere 3.8 seconds. While fans miss the option of manual transmission, BMW clarified that the 6-speed MT offered with the regular M2 isn’t engineered to handle the higher torque figure.

Design and Features

The CS badging on the M2 means lightweight, and BMW has done enough to do justice to the tag. While there are no major differences from the M2 Coupe when it comes to aesthetics, the heavy carbon-fibre work is what makes the M2 CS stand out. You also see a slightly different grille and air vents on the bumper, along with a unique ducktail rear spoiler for better performance.

The side profile includes classic CS styled gold light alloy forged wheels.

On the inside, BMW offers race-inspired carbon bucket seats as standard fare with new CS logos on the seats and door sills.

You also get to see an Alcantara steering wheel and decent creature comforts for a performance-focused car, including a heated steering wheel, 3-zone climate control, a head-up display, and a Harman Kardon sound system.

Lighter Chassis

BMW has reduced the curb weight of the M2 CS by nearly 30 kg to increase the performance. Weighing in at 1700 kg, the M2 CS employs a carbon-fibre roof and boot lid to be lighter than the regular M2. BMW also offers optional carbon-ceramic brakes and an optional lightweight titanium M Performance exhaust for those aiming to reduce the weight further.

For a sharper handling experience, the chassis gets stiffer springs and recalibrated adaptive dampers along with a fine-tuned electronically controlled limited-slip differential, traction and stability control systems, and ABS for more consistent high-speed behavior.

The BMW CS is priced at about $99,775 USD ( 85 lakhs). It might come to India in very limited numbers via CBU route for approximately 2 crores.
