Hyundai Creta EV Debuts With 473 KM Range and Costs 17.99 Lakhs

The Hyundai Creta Electric has been officially launched in India with prices ranging from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 23.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The electric SUV is available in two battery options: a 42kWh battery offering a range of 390km, and a more powerful 51.4kWh battery with a range of 473km, both of these pale in comparison to Mahindra's BE 6's 59 and 79 kWh battery packs.

Its rather high but unsurprising pricing puts the electric Creta approximately Rs 7 lakh higher than its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, which is priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.30 lakh. It competes with other popular electric vehicles such as the Tata Curvv EV and recently renamed Mahindra BE 6.

The exterior of the Creta EV is a far cry from the aero-friendly aesthetic typically associated with electrically. It is big and imposing with a pixelated design but does feature active aero flaps for improved efficiency.

The interior of the Creta Electric resembles that of the ICE-powered Creta, with dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone climate control, and Level 2 ADAS. The Excellence trim includes premium features such as a digital key, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charging, and the ability to make in-car payments for charging.

The Creta Electric offers two motor variants: a 135 bhp motor for the 42 kWh version and a 171 bhp motor for the 51.4 kWh version. The long-range 51.4 kWh variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. The vehicle comes with three driving modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—and features i-Pedal technology, which allows for one-pedal driving to enhance efficiency and ease.

In terms of charging, the Creta Electric can charge from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes using a DC fast charger, while a full charge (10% to 100%) takes about 4 hours with an 11 kW AC wall box charger. The car also offers remote charging capabilities through the "My Hyundai" app.

Safety features on the Creta Electric are robust, with six airbags, 360-degree cameras, electronic stability control, hill start assist, rear disc brakes, ISOFIX anchors, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It also includes advanced driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, and blind spot monitoring, ensuring a secure driving experience.
