Hero MotoCorp’s EV division, Vida, has teased its upcoming electric scooter, VX2, for the first time. The teaser image partially reveals the front fascia, keeping the rest of the scooter’s design under wraps. The official launch is slated for July 1.
Positioned Below the V2
The VX2 is expected to slot below the current Vida V2 lineup, making it the most accessible offering from the brand. Leaked images from earlier this year indicate that the VX2 will carry forward some components from the V2 range, such as the alloy wheels and switchgear. However, unlike the V2, the VX2 will feature a physical keyhole, suggesting a more cost-effective approach.
Spy shots also revealed a compact TFT display, further supporting its budget-friendly positioning. The V2 currently comes in three variants, Lite, Plus, and Pro and the VX2 is also expected to offer multiple versions, with one spotted sporting a ‘Plus’ badge.
Focus on Affordability
Hero is reportedly working on a new EV platform, codenamed ACPD, aimed at reducing production costs. The VX2 could be the first product based on this platform. The initiative aligns with Hero’s broader goal of making electric mobility more accessible, potentially at price points close to traditional ICE scooters.
Currently, Hero produces around 7,000 EVs per month. With the rollout of new ACPD-based models, production is expected to increase to 15,000 units monthly.
Expanding Reach
To support its growing EV lineup, Hero has been expanding its Vida retail network. The company now operates 203 outlets, including 180 full-scale dealerships spread across 116 cities. This move is intended to improve accessibility and after-sales support for customers.
Strong Sales
Hero’s electric push is showing results. In FY2025, the company sold 48,673 electric scooters, an impressive 175% jump over FY2024’s 17,720 units. This surge reflects growing consumer interest in the Vida brand, which competes with key players like Ola Electric, Ather, Bajaj, and TVS.
Currently, the Vida V2 range is priced between Rs 74,000 and Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). With the VX2 expected to come in at an even lower price point, Hero is clearly eyeing a larger slice of the budget EV segment
