The 6-speed automatic transmission, while generally smooth, has been noted by some owners for exhibiting occasional hesitation during quick acceleration demands, particularly when trying to make a sudden dash. This can sometimes lead to a slight delay before the gearbox kicks down and the power comes on strong.

We managed fuel economy in the range of 15-20 kmpl in mixed driving conditions. However, the diesel engine's inherent clatter is a point of contention.

While Kia has worked to minimize it, it's still noticeable, especially at idle and during cold starts. Some find it acceptable, while others coming from petrol vehicles might find it a bit intrusive. The turbo lag, as mentioned previously, is also a factor that drivers need to adapt to. Learning to anticipate the engine's power delivery is key to maximizing its responsiveness. Once the turbo spools up, the surge of torque is appreciable, providing a distinct character to the driving experience.

The interior of the Kia Seltos GTX+ is where it truly shines in terms of features and perceived value. The use of leatherette upholstery on the seats and door panels creates a more premium feel compared to cloth alternatives. The ventilated front seats are a standout feature, providing a significant boost in comfort during hot summers. The driver's 8-way power-adjustable seat allows for a personalized and comfortable driving position, especially on long journeys

The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system is a major highlight, offering a crisp display and a user-friendly interface. It supports both wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing seamless integration of smartphones. The inclusion of Kia's UVO Connect system adds another layer of convenience with features like remote engine start, vehicle tracking, and geofencing.

 The Bose premium sound system, often featuring multiple speakers and a subwoofer, delivers an impressive audio experience, making it a joy for music lovers. The instrument cluster typically features a combination of analog dials and a 7-inch digital display, providing essential driving information in a modern format. The Head-Up Display (HUD) is a welcome addition, projecting key information like speed and navigation onto the windshield, reducing the need for the driver to take their eyes off the road.

Convenience features are plentiful, including wireless charging, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a cooled glovebox, and a rear sunshade. The steering wheel, wrapped in leather, offers controls for audio, phone, and cruise control. Ambient lighting allows for customization of the cabin's atmosphere. 

However, as mentioned before, the material quality isn't consistent throughout the cabin. While the areas you frequently touch feel good, some of the plastics used in lower sections and on the center console can feel hard and less premium. The lack of lumbar support for the front passenger seat is a notable omission, especially considering the price point. Rear seat comfort is generally good for two adults, offering decent legroom and headroom, but fitting three adults can be a squeeze, particularly on longer journeys.

The exterior styling of the Kia Seltos GTX+ is undeniably a key factor in its popularity. It's a design that's bold and contemporary, aiming to stand out from the crowd. The tiger-nose grille, with its intricate mesh pattern and chrome surround, is a prominent and instantly recognizable feature. The Crown Jewel LED headlamps, with their unique Star Map LED Daytime Running Lights, not only provide excellent illumination but also contribute significantly to the car's premium aesthetic. The vertical ice cube LED fog lamps add a touch of ruggedness to the front fascia.

Along the sides, the sharp shoulder lines and the floating roof design give the Seltos a dynamic and modern silhouette. The alloy wheels, often 17 or 18 inches depending on the specific model year and trim, are designed to enhance its sporty appeal. Chrome accents on the door handles and window surrounds add a touch of sophistication. However, the rear design has been a subject of some debate. The Star Map LED connected tail lamps, while distinctive, have been described by some as being a bit busy. The thick chrome strip connecting them might not appeal to all tastes. The sporty rear bumper, with its faux exhaust tips, is another styling element that some find a bit artificial. While the overall design is undoubtedly eye-catching, it's also somewhat polarizing, with some appreciating its boldness while others prefer a more understated look. Real-world feedback suggests that the Seltos's styling is a significant draw for younger buyers, while some older demographics might find it a bit too flashy.

The Kia Seltos GTX+ comes loaded with a comprehensive list of safety features, aiming to provide a sense of security. These include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Brake Assist, and all four disc brakes. 

Hill hold control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are also standard. Parking is made easier and safer with rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. ISOFIX child seat anchors are provided for secure installation of child seats.

However, the elephant in the room remains the Global NCAP safety rating of just 3 stars for adults and 2 stars for children . A really pathetic result for a posh brand like Kia

It excels in providing a comfortable and technologically advanced driving experience, particularly for those who prioritize features and style. However, the firmer ride quality, the engine's diesel characteristics, the inconsistencies in interior material quality, and, most notably, the concerns surrounding its Global NCAP safety rating are factors that potential buyers must carefully evaluate.
